Placer County Continues Tradition of Procurement Excellence

The Administrative Services Department's Procurement Services Division has received the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award again for 2012. This is the 10th consecutive year the Procurement division has received this award, which recognizes organizational excellence in public procurement and is granted to public procurement agencies who exemplify innovation, professionalism, productivity, ethics, and leadership in the profession.

The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement program was established in 1996 by the National Purchasing Institute (NPI). It is also co-sponsored by the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), the California Association of Public Procurement Officials (CAPPO), and several other public purchasing associations.

Placer County is one of only 40 counties in the nation to receive this award, only 16 of which have consecutively earned the award for the past 10 years. In 2012, only 9 of California's counties earned this award.

This achievement is a testament to Procurement Services' commitment to fiscal efficiency while maintaining a high level of service to the taxpayers and the various County departments that they support, while promoting a fair, competitive, and impartial environment for the County's vendor community.

"Being recognized for these national awards is an honor, and it is a reflection of our staff's commitment to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Placer County," said Brett Wood, Purchasing Manager.
