NOTICE OF PUBLIC WORKSHOPS AND PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED ADOPTION OF NEW RULE 412 - REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR STATIONARY AND PORTABLE COMPRESSION IGNITION ENGINES USED IN AGRICULTURAL OPERATIONS AND AMENDED RULE 601 - PERMIT FEES
Workshops:
The Placer County Air Pollution Control District (District) will be holding two public workshops to receive public comment in advance of a public hearing to discuss proposed Rule 412 - Registration Requirements for Stationary and Portable Compression Ignition Engines Used in Agricultural Operations and an amendment to Rule 601 - Permit Fees at the following dates, times, and locations:
- Monday, November 5, 2007, 2:00 PM at the Lincoln Veterans Memorial Hall, 541 5th Street, Lincoln, CA.
· Wednesday, November 7, 2007, 7:00 PM at the Paige Fire Station, 5391 Nicolaus Rd., Lincoln, CA.
Public Hearing:
On Thursday, December 13, 2007, at their regular meeting beginning at 2:30 PM, the Placer County Air Pollution Control District Board of Directors will hold a public hearing to receive comments and consider the adoption of the new proposed Rule 412 - Registration Requirements for Stationary and Portable Compression Ignition Engines Used in Agricultural Operations and an amendment to Rule 601 - Permit Fees. The hearing is to be held at the Placer County Board of Supervisors Chambers, 175 Fulweiler Avenue, Auburn, California.
What is proposed:
Due to a recent change in State Law, Placer County Air Pollution Control District is proposing to adopt a new rule that would require owners or operators of in-use stationary and certain portable diesel engines of over 50 horsepower to register these engines with the District. The District estimates that the typical engine affected by this rule is used for irrigation pumping. An initial registration fee of $100 per engine is proposed. A copy of the proposed Rule 412 and a support document explaining the rule are listed below:

All interested parties are advised of the opportunity to comment on the proposed rule and amended rule.
