Air Quality

Air Quality Standards

Air quality standards are established to protect even the most sensitive individuals in our communities. These standards indicate the maximum amount of a pollutant that can be present in outdoor air without harm to the public’s health. Both the California Air Resources Board (ARB) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) are authorized to set ambient air quality standards.

For information on the current state air quality standards, visit the California Air Resources Board Air Quality Standards site.

For information on the current federal air quality standards, visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency site.

A list of the current air quality standards is available from the California Air Resources Board.

Air Quality Plans

    Monitoring Stations

The California Air Resources Board maintains a website with technical information on all of the monitoring stations operated throughout the state, including our county.

    Air Quality Data

The District compiles information on air quality trends within our county in order to monitor the effectiveness of our existing programs and to determine where additional efforts are necessary.

Information on daily ozone can be found on the Spare the Air webpage.

The California Air Resources Board (ARB) also compiles air quality data in order to assess emission trends on a statewide basis.
