Clean Air Grant Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Clean Air Grant Program?Logo that says 2013 Clean Air Grants
The Clean Air Grant Program (CAG) is designed to lower everyday emissions from heavy duty on and off-road sources, support cleaner fuel technology, promote energy conservation, and educate the public about air pollution.

What is the benefit to me?
This is a good opportunity to be awarded a financial grant to significantly help lower your cost to replace an older diesel engine or vehicle, build an alternative fuel station, or develop an alternative transportation or public education program.

Why should I be interested?
Participating in the Clean Air Grant program will reduce your costs for purchasing low emission vehicles and equipment and
help the region improve air quality

Who can apply?
Any individual, business, public agency, or non-profit organization which operates within Placer County however, some grant categories may restrict what type of agency can apply for a grant.

How much money is available?
Approximately $950,000 dollars.

When are applications due?
The 2013 Application period closes on February 28, 2013. No postmarks or facsimiles (faxes) accepted.

What happens if my project is selected for grant funding?
You will need to enter into a contract with the Placer County APCD.

Where does the money come from?
From your annual Department of Motor Vehicles Registration Fee of $6.00 per vehicle, and from off-site air pollution mitigation fees paid by new development within Placer County.

What is the most important criteria for which a project will be granted money?
We want to achieve the greatest amount of emission reductions for the money awarded, maximizing cost effectiveness. The greater the emission reductions, the better your chances of being awarded a grant.

If I am awarded a grant, when do I need to finish my project?
All projects must be completed within a one to two-year time frame unless otherwise negotiated.

Can vehicles/equipment under regulation quality for funding?
No.
