$4.4 BILLION INCREASE IN ASSESSMENT ROLL SETS ANOTHER RECORD!
Bruce Dear, Placer County Assessor, announced a 12.75 % increase in this year's property assessment roll. The recently completed local assessment roll rose to over $39 billion for 2004-2005, an increase of $4.4 billion from last year's roll. The dollar increase broke the previous record of $4.1 billion set last year. The increase is attributed to a higher value for properties that changed ownership and to the continued high rate of new construction.
On a percentage basis Lincoln led Placer County jurisdictions with a 34.3% increase in net assessed value. Assessment information by jurisdiction is as follows:

The annual property assessment roll, delivered by Dear to the County Auditor, generates the property tax revenue that is used to fund education, criminal justice, health, welfare, and many other city and county government services.
"Notices of assessed value" are being mailed over the next two weeks to all business property owners and to some real property owners, based on certain changes of status that may have impacted their real estate.
