Employer Resources

Golden Sierra Workforce Investment Board (WIB)
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) reformed federal job training programs and created a new comprehensive approach providing workforce investment activities through state and local systems. At the local level, the Governor of California designated a local Workforce Investment Board to oversee and coordinate the activities of the various local partners in the One-Stop System. Consisting of a majority of business and industry leaders, the WIB also has educational, community and economic development representation.

Employer Advisory Councils
Employer Advisory Councils (EACs) are formed in local areas to develop stronger partnerships between the California Employment Development Department (EDD) and the business community. EAC members are a cross-section of local employer who join with EDD staff in doing business more effectively and efficiently. This could include workshops and monthly meetings depending on needs and requests from employers. In Placer County there are presently two EAC associations; which cover the Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln employer community and the Auburn/Grass Valley community.

Why join an Employer Advisory Council?

  • You can obtain a better understanding of Unemployment Insurance and use the knowledge immediately to save your company time and money.
  • You will learn the latest in employment law.
  • You can help educate the employer community on important employment issues and legislation that affects the way we all do business.
  • You will have an opportunity to share ideas and concerns with others.
  • You will help direct your local Employer Advisory Council to meet community employment needs.
  • You will increase your company's awareness of the importance of keeping up to date on employment issues and their impact on business operation.
  • You will develop a network of contacts.
  • Reduced cost when attending EAC sponsored functions such as seminars and monthly luncheons.

Placer County has two EACs:

  • The Foothill Employer Advisory Council meets the third Thursday of each month.
  • The South Placer Employer Advisory Council meets the third Tuesday of each month.
