ABOUT THE AREA

Air Transportation
Placer County is easily accessed by two major airports. TheSacramento International Airport to the west
is a quick 40 minute drive to Auburn, the county seat nestled in
the Sierra Nevada foothills; and the Reno - Tahoe International Airport to the
east, with hundreds of daily commercial flights, is just a 55
minute drive to Tahoe's North Shore. In addition, private planes,
helicopters, and small jets utilize three smaller airports in
Placer County: Lincoln, in the western country
area; Auburn - in the Sierra foothills; and the Truckee-Tahoe
Airport 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe.

Surface Transportation
Interstate 80, crosses through Placer County.
I-80 begins in the San Francisco Bay Area and heads east to
Sacramento, crosses over the Sierra Nevada mountains and reaches
Lake Tahoe at the eastern end of Placer County
before continuing to Reno, Nevada.
Interstate 5 from Los Angeles is a reasonable
drive north to I-80 in Sacramento; then connect
with I-80 east 10 miles to the Placer County line.

 When
planning where to house your crew and production office, you'll
discover a wide variety of accommodation choices with thousands of
rooms from which to choose. The county caters to a wide ranging
clientele requiring convention hotels, condos and five star
resorts, retreats and budget hotels. For others, there are quaint,
picturesque motels, extended-stay hotels, and charming bed and
breakfasts as well as lovely rental homes, especially in the
