Defensible Space Drop-Off Day for Tahoe Residents

Have you done your defensible space? If so, please gather up your pine needles, tree trimmings, dead leaves and dry grass and bring them to one of the drop-off locations. In preparation for summer and the upcoming fire season, Placer County is working with Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal and North Tahoe Fire Protection District to provide residents with a free defensible space drop-off day. That day will be, Sat., June 6, 2009, from 7:30 am to 2 pm.  There will be three locations throughout the North Lake Tahoe region:

• Cross Country Center, Tahoe City, 925 Country Club Drive;
• Homewood South Lodge (Tahoe Ski Bowl);and
• North Tahoe Regional Park (Snow Park area).

Acceptable items include: natural wood debris material only, such as tree limbs and brush, dry grass and dead leaves, pine needles, and yard trimmings (please try to group items as listed here).

Unacceptable items include: garbage, hot ashes, stumps, dirt, rocks, nails and construction debris.

Limits & Information:  There is a limit of three yards of greenwaste per vehicle per trip, which is approximatly  20 bags of material. For more information please call 530-546-2212 or visit www.placer.ca.gov/recycle.

The public is reminded of their responsibilities, which include:
• All sites will be monitored by TTSD personnel;
• Customers will be responsible for unloading material as directed by TTSD personnel;
• The event ends promptly at 2 pm. No material should be left at site after the event has ended; and
• Remembering to tarp your load and drive safely. Lining trucks with a tarp prior to loading material will make for easier offloading
