The public is invited to a meeting to address design features of the Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project. The meeting, scheduled for Wed., Dec. 1, 2010 in Kings Beach, will be held at Kings Beach Elementary School, 8125 Steelhead St., Kings Beach, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
The contract for the design phase of the Project, which is more than a decade in the planning and approval process, was approved by the Placer County Board of Supervisors in September. Construction will likely begin in the spring and the project is expected to take three building seasons to complete.
When done, State Route 28 through the center of Kings Beach, will be transformed into a three-lane highway which utilizes roundabout at two key intersections to slow traffic through the North Lake Tahoe community. The project will significantly improve water quality on the North Shore, in addition to improving bicycle and pedestrian access and safety. The project will also improve the aesthetics of the area
“I am very pleased that the public input process on the KBCCIP is beginning in earnest. This meeting (and the many others to come) will offer the public the chance to weigh in on, not just the Highway 28 improvements, but the upgrades this will bring to the Grid,” said Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery, whose 5th District includes Placer County’s portion of the Tahoe Basin. “I hope that the community will join forces to create the best project possible moving forward together!”
In addition to the Dec. 1 meeting, there will be a series of additional public meetings on various phases of the design process. Those meetings will be announced when firm dates have been scheduled.
