Kings Beach Community Enhancement Projects
On February 27, 2008 the Governing Board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) unanimously approved applications from five Kings Beach redevelopment projects for Community Enhancement Program (CEP) designation.  The five projects range from smaller scale adaptive reuse to a $100+ million, five acre mixed-use development.  When completed the projects would provide more than one hundred units of new affordable housing, hotels, office space, retail shops, public plazas, restored beaches and pocket parks as well as several million dollars worth of environmental protection and infrastructure improvements.

The Redevelopment Agency has been working closely with all five project teams to help them define community goals and identify opportunities for providing environmental benefits.  As stated in TRPA's report to the Governing Board, "All of the project proposals have the potential to be extraordinary CEP projects."  The Governing Board action reserves development rights and enables the project applicants to submit full applications for entitlement permits.  The Redevelopment Agency will continue to work closely with TRPA, Placer County, outside agencies and the community to refine and advance the proposals.
