Retaining Wall Guidelines
Pursuant to the requirements of the Placer County Grading Ordinance, the following
Sacramento Valley Chapter ICBO guidelines are recommended for designing retaining walls. The 
Engineering & Surveying Department implements the recommendations contained in this document to bridge the gap between the Uniform Building Code requirements and accepted engineering design practices. Due to our County's varied topography, it is recommended that the design engineer contact the Engineering & Surveying Department regarding any specific requirements prior to submitting an application for a grading permit.
