The Placer County Board of Supervisors established CDRA as an umbrella agency to include the land development departments of Planning, Building, and Engineering and Surveying. The Board's goal, and the Agency's charter, is to provide high-quality, consistent, and prompt land-development services in the County's unincorporated area for residents and developers.
The CDRA will focus on continued improvement in the permit and application review processes, coordination among all County land-use departments and divisions, and overall customer service.
CDRA Administration : Responsible for Agency administrative matters; manage the Agency's Information Technology Division, Geographic Information System Division, and the Environmental Coordination team.

Planning Department: Guides land use patterns and activities Countywide through community planning, permit evaluation and natural resource preservation; processes and makes recommendations on land-development applications; provides technical expertise to the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission; and leads the preparation of community plans.

Building Department : Processes building applications; issues permits; reviews plans; conducts on-site inspections; maintains inspection records; responds to complaints about potential hazards and code violations. The Tahoe City office issues building allocations and permits for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

Engineering and Surveying Department : Checks plans for land development projects and some county and utility construction projects; performs surveying and reviews final maps; inspects construction at private land development and County projects; conducts environmental review and conditioning for discretionary permits; processes grading permits; investigates grading complaints; and assigns road names and address numbers.
