Placer County Housing Element - Draft Background Report

Placer County has released a Draft Background Report for the Housing Element. State Housing Element Law (Government Code Section 65580 et seq.) mandates that local governments must adequately plan to meet the existing and projected housing needs of all economic segments of the community. This Placer County Housing Element Background Report provides current (to the end of 2007) information on household characteristics, housing needs, housing supply, land inventory for new development, housing programs, constraints, and incentives for new housing development in Placer County. It also evaluates progress made since Placer County’s last Housing Element was adopted in 2003. Where available, population and housing projections are provided as well.

The Background Report of the Housing Element identifies the nature and extent of the County’s housing needs, which in turn provides the basis for the County’s response to those needs in the Policy Document. The Background Report also presents information on the community’s setting in order to provide a better understanding of its housing needs.
