Housing Element Update Implementation
The Housing Element is part of the County's General Plan designed to address the existing and projected housing needs of all economic segments of the community.
Placer County’s Housing Element was updated in 2008 and formally adopted by the Placer County Board of Supervisors in May 2009.
Placer County is responsible for implementing Housing Element-related programs and initiatives for the unincorporated portions of Placer County.
The Housing Element contains a series of goals related to new construction, rehabilitation, preservation, and housing assistance. In coming months, and over the next several years, the programs contained in the Housing Element and the specific actions that Placer County proposed to carry out over the Housing Element cycle to satisfy the community’s housing needs and meet the requirements of State law will be implemented.

For the purpose of all local ordinances, employee housing shall not be deemed a use that implies that the employee housing is an activity that differs in any other way from an agricultural use. No conditional use permit, zoning variance, or other zoning clearance shall be required of this employee housing that is not required of any other agricultural activity in the same zone.” The County shall also ensure that such procedures encourage and facilitate the development of housing for farmworkers.
