Preliminary Draft of the Updated Granite Bay Community Plan
Now Available for Public Review
The Granite Bay Community Plan preliminary draft document is available for public review. This preliminary draft is the product of collaboration and participation with the Granite Bay Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) subcommittee and County staff over the past two years. The draft provides community members and the public a chance to review the vision, goals, policies and regulations related to development in Granite Bay over the next 25 to 30 years.
By setting goals and policies for Granite Bay that are distinct from those applied countywide, the Community Plan outlines how Placer County will manage growth while retaining Granite Bay's unique attributes. Planning Division staff have been working with the Granite Bay MAC, the public, and Supervisor Kirk Uhler's office to revise the current Community Plan that was adopted in 1989.
The preliminary draft document is available for review at the Granite Bay Public Library located at 6475 Douglas Boulevard in Granite Bay, and at the Community Development Resource Center located at 3091 County Center Drive in Auburn. The document is also available through the links shown below, or on CD by contacting Christopher Schmidt at 530-745-3076, or by email at crschmid@placer.ca.gov.
These documents are review drafts which may be modified prior to adoption based on public comment and the outcome of public hearings. The Granite Bay MAC held a public workshop to discuss the preliminary draft document on November 2, 2011. The issues and responses document and the staff presentation are available for review. Responses to comments received since November 2nd are also available.
The Granite Bay MAC made a recommendation for approval to the Placer County Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors regarding adoption of the document at their December 7, 2011 meeting. On January 12, 2012, the Planning Commission took action to recommend the Board of Supervisors adopt the Community Plan with minor revisions. The Board of Supervisors is expected to consider the Granite Bay Community Plan document in late February.
