GENERAL INFORMATION/STATUS

Placer County is beginning the process of updating its Tahoe Community/General Plans. The County’s update will be coordinated with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s (TRPA) Regional Plan Update (RPU)

The County currently maintains nine community and general plans within the Tahoe Basin, including: the West Shore General Plan, Tahoe City Area General Plan, Tahoe City Community Plan, Carnelian Bay Community Plan, Tahoe Vista Community Plan, North Tahoe Area General Plan, Kings Beach Community Plan, Kings Beach Industrial Community Plan and North Stateline Community Plan. In an effort to develop more cohesive, user-friendly planning documents, staff has explored a modified format to the Tahoe Community/General Plan updates and proposes a single Community Plan policy document with four sub-planning areas for which four separate zoning ordinances will be developed. TRPA staff agrees with this approach and the County’s Board of Supervisors has directed staff to proceed with the modified format.

Public Outreach

Staff is preparing a public outreach strategy for the update process which will begin with an announcement and presentation at the Placer County North Tahoe Regional Advisory Council (NTRAC) meetings. A Town Hall Meeting was held on October 25, 2011 in Kings Beach to kick-off the Update process. An overview of the meeting is available (in portable document format - PDF, 3mb in size).
