Biography of Bradford R. Fenocchio
Brad Fenocchio has been with the Placer County District Attorney's Office since 1985. Prior to that, he was a practicing attorney in general private practice in the Sacramento/Placer area.
While supporting a family, Fenocchio worked his way through Sacramento City College and Sacramento State, where he majored in Government and was on the Dean's Honor List. Later, he worked his way through night law school at Sacramento's Lincoln University School of Law, graduating in 1977.
Working as a deputy prosecutor for the Placer County District Attorney's Office, he successfully tried a variety of cases, from misdemeanors involving zoning violations to petty thefts to drunk driving. After being promoted to the felony prosecution unit, he put a number of serious and violent criminals, including burglars, robbers, rapists, child molesters, and murderers behind bars. In 2001, he tried a violent criminal for rape and multiple murders. The case was transferred to Napa County for a Change of Venue. That criminal was found guilty and is currently on San Quentin's death row.
In the early 1900's, Fenocchio's grandfather immigrated to this country from Italy. He brought with him a third grade education. In America, his grandfather learned to speak English and taught himself to read and write. Working as a rancher and at nights as a janitor at the State Capitol, his grandfather instilled in his family a strong work ethic and an abiding respect for the value of an education and for the law, as well as for the many opportunities that this country has to offer.
Brad Fenocchio was elected District Attorney of Placer County in June of 1994, re-elected in 1998, and re-elected without opposition in March of 2002.
His office and staff has been the recipient of numerous awards, accreditations and recognitions at the state and federal level. These include receipt of the Rural and Medium County Outstanding Prosecutor of the Year Award for the State of California in 2003; receipt of accreditation from the National Children's Alliance in October 2004 for the District Attorney's Multi Disciplinary Interview Center; receipt of the National Association of Counties 2003 Achievement Award presented to the Placer County District Attorney's Office for its innovative program the Community Agency Multidisciplinary Elder Team; and receipt of the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award for Elder Abuse Prosecution presented by California Attorney General Bill Lockyear, in May 2003. The Placer County District Attorney's Office has also received numerous recognitions from Mothers Against Drunk Driving for its consistent effort to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
