South Placer Justice Center

Acknowledging the county's rapid growth, especially in the southern part of Placer County, the Board of Supervisors has directed the planning of a South Placer Justice Center.

This master-planned justice services campus will encompass a total of 676,000 square feet of buildings on a 73-acre site in the City of Roseville. The Center will provide a range of justice and law enforcement services for county residents; and will make those services, now provided in Auburn, much more convenient for south Placer residents.

The Center will contain five buildings built in phases by the County over the next 25 years and beyond:

  • Offices for the District Attorney and the Public Defender
  • A Sheriff's Substation
  • A detention center with capacity for up to 980 inmates
  • A vehicle shop
  • An archive/storage building

In addition to the County facilities, a private developer will build two buildings on the site, a courthouse and a private office building, within the next two years.

To meet the California Environmental Quality Act requirements, the County's Department of Facilities Services prepared an initial study for the proposed project site. On the basis of that study, the department prepared a Mitigated Negative Declaration. A copy of the document is available as a Portable Document Format file. The file is large - over 9 MB - and may take a while to download.
