Solid Waste

The Division administers and manages the county wide solid waste management program, including the Eastern Regional Landfill and the Western Regional Sanitary Landfill and Material Recovery Facility . It also provides administrative support to the Western Placer Waste Management Authority.

Additionally, the division administers contracts for garbage collection franchises, engineering services, monitoring of closed and active landfills, and landfill facility construction, and provides liaison between county, state, and federal agencies.

The Division also administers the eastern County and western County household hazardous waste collection and disposal, used oil collection, composting, recycling education and "Blue Bag" recycling programs. Wastewater Utilities

This division maintains sewer lines, cleans the sewers, and operates and maintains wastewater treatment plants operated by Placer County.

Areas served include North Auburn, Granite Bay, Loomis, Livoti, Sabre City, Sunset Industrial area, Sheridan, Applegate and Blue Canyon. Also, the division maintains the water system in the community of Sheridan and the Dry Creek area. Note: Cities and other independent districts operate their own sewer and water systems.
