Environmental Engineering and Utilities
The Environmental Engineering and Utilities Divisions of the Department of Facility Services are responsible for the ongoing management, operation, and maintenance of the following services in the unincorporated areas of Placer County:
Garbage and Recycling
Sewer
Water
Our Primary Task
To protect public health and safety through responsible operation and maintenance of public utilities and waste management services.
Environmental Engineering Staff
Environmental Engineering staff is comprised of engineers, environmental specialists, planners, project managers, and other technical specialists that are responsible for the following duties pertaining to our facilities:
- Design
- Planning
- Permitting
- Contract management
- Capital improvements
Environmental Engineering also provides administrative support and management to the Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) which owns and operates the Western Regional Sanitary Landfill and Materials Recovery Facility in Roseville.
Environmental Utilities Staff
Environmental Utilities staff is comprised of plant operators, laboratory technicians, utility service workers, and maintenance workers that are responsible for the day to day tasks of:
- wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) operations
- WWTP and collection system maintenance and repairs
- laboratory sampling and reporting pursuant to operating permits
- waste discharge requirements, and ongoing safety training.
