Applegate Wastewater Treatment Plant Closure & Pipeline Project
Project Description: The proposed improvements would decommission the treatment ponds at the Applegate Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and install up to two pump stations and a pipeline to convey Applegate’s wastewater to the existing sewer collection system that conveys wastewater to the SMD 1 WWTP on Joeger Road in North Auburn.
Project Location: The project area includes the Applegate WWTP (approximately 8 miles northeast of Auburn) and site of the proposed 4-mile pipeline, from the Applegate WWTP to the existing pipeline system at Winchester Club Drive west of Sugar Pine Road, in Placer County, CA.
Status: The Draft EIR was circulated to the public June 17, 2001 - August 1, 2011 and determined that all impacts could be reduced to less-than-significant levels with mitigation. The Final EIR was completed in November 2011 and made available for public review. All environmental documents for this project are posted here. The Placer County Board of Supervisors certified the EIR and approved the project on January 10, 2012, the Board agenda and related memos can be found here. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2012.
Auburn Ravine Lift Station Upgrade

Project Location: On Auburn Ravine Road near the intersection of Auburn Ravine Road and Oak Tree Drive in the City of Auburn, Placer County
Status: This project was completed in 2010 and received an American Public Works Association (APWA) “2011 Project of the YearAward” in the Environmental Category from the Sacramento Chapter of the APWA. For the full story on the award click here.
