Museums Volunteers

The Heart of a Volunteer

When you become a Placer County Museums volunteer, you join a team of dedicated, history-loving people. As a volunteer, you will learn the ins and outs of local history, meet interesting people and make new friends. We are committed to providing our volunteers with a fulfilling experience. Training is provided and all volunteers have the opportunity to continue learning by attending advanced classes. Docents in Auburn are encouraged to become members of the Museum Docent Guild. They receive a newsletter and are invited to participate in special events and field trips to historic sites.

Museum volunteers enable Placer County Museums to provide a variety of services to the public, and they are valued for all their contributions. Our docents greet visitors and lead tours of historic buildings and museums. Others demonstrate crafts and trades on Living History days or teach people how to pan for gold. Whatever your interests, there is a place for you to volunteer!
