Education Programs
Placer County Museums is dedicated to providing the public with free interpretive and educational programs throughout the year. From lectures, presentations, and concerts, to interactive participation in a variety of programs, the Placer County Museums meets its mission goals to promote community involvement, preserve the County’s rich historic and cultural legacy, and add to the understanding of Placer County, its people, places and events.
Past Community Education Programs have included presentations on Gold Mining and Geology, Gold Rush Medicine, conducting archival research, and Gold Rush Music. We also hosted a Family Living History Day at the Bernhard Museum Complex.
In addition, the county also has a Living History program for third grade students.
Many more Community Education Programs are planned. Check this page for updates!
The Placer County Museums hosts a free Community Education Program once a month. Click here for an upcoming Community Education Program.
The education programs we offer to the community range from classes on the preservation of historic documents and textiles to live Gold Rush music. We have hosted authors who presented their research that dealt with some facet of local history and we’ve hosted experts on specific topics in Placer County history such as gold mining or archaeology. We host one Community Education program a month and each one is free! To view the current schedule of Community Education programs, please click here.
