Education Programs

Placer County Museums is dedicated to providing the public with free interpretive and educational programs throughout the year. From lectures, presentations, and concerts, to interactive participation in a variety of programs, the Placer County Museums meets its mission goals to promote community involvement, preserve the County’s rich historic and cultural legacy, and add to the understanding of Placer County, its people, places and events.

Past Community Education Programs have included presentations on Archaeology, Victorian Christmas crafts, gold mining, and the history of gas lighting. We also hosted Jump into Summer ~ 19th Century Kid's Games at the Bernhard Museum Complex this past June.

In addition, the county also has a Living History program for third grade students and a Gold Rush program for fourth grade students.

Coming Soon: A new educational tour program will start on March 1st.  This program will follow current content standards that will deliver relevant information in an organized fashion using trained volunteers and staff.  There will be a $2.00 charge per student.  This tour is available for third and fourth grade classes at our Placer County Museum and the Bernhard Museum.

Our Fourth Grade Walking Tour Guide for teachers is online now!
(This is a large file, so it will take up to a minute to download)

The Placer County Museums hosts free Community Education Programs.

The education programs we offer to the community range from classes on the preservation of historic documents and textiles to live Gold Rush music. We have hosted authors who presented their research that dealt with some facet of local history and we’ve hosted experts on specific topics in Placer County history such as gold mining or archaeology.
