North Fork American River Trail Plan

Placer County is growing very quickly. To provide current and new residents and visitors with adequate recreation resources, Placer County and the California Department of Parks and Recreation working on a proposed project to extend the existing network of trails throughout the American River Canyon. Part of the Auburn State Recreation Area, these trails already provide a variety of recreational opportunities, like hiking, biking, and equestrian activities. An environmental impact report is being prepared.

The North Fork American River Trail project is proposed as a multiple use trail that will begin at the confluence of the North and Middle Forks of the American River and end at Ponderosa Bridge, approximately 12.6 miles upstream.
