Kings Beach Library History
The Kings Beach Library was started by Mrs. Dorothy O'Brien in the early 1940s. She arranged for books to be sent to her from the Auburn Library every few months. The library was originally located out of Mrs. O'Brien's Kings Beach restaurant. During the 1950s and the 1960s, the library was housed in the office of a resort in Tahoe Vista which was operated by Mr. and Mrs. Burroughs until 1953. In 1953 the resort was purchased by the Potts family who assumed responsibility for the library. In September 1964, the library opened in the Carpenter's Hall, and moved to its current location in 1988.
