This division is responsible for supervising all adults who live in Placer County when they are placed on formal probation by the courts. For offenders granted probation who live in another county, officers coordinate supervision responsibility with the probation department in those counties to manage necessary probation services. Adult Supervision works with offenders both serving time in jail and those serving probation outside jail.

This division provides Alternative sentencing options for serving jail time. These carefully-managed options require offenders to serve their sentences in a way which benefits the community and statisfies the jail sentence they received.

All participants in any community corrections program must satisfy some specific conditions. They must be sentenced to a minimum number of days in jail, and they must be considered low-risk offenders. Each participant pays a $25 nonrefundable application fee. If accepted, each participant also must pay $20 per day to help cover program costs.

Community service work crews have provided help for many county nonprofit organizations by painting, clearing brush, general cleanup, and doing other chores. If you know of a county nonprofit organization which could use the help of a community service work crew, an organization representative should contact Liz Maher at the Probation Department by Email, or at 530-889-7900.

Further information on Alternative Sentencing Programs is available.

Probation's Member of the SIU, is also on the Adult Supervision Team. SIU is a task force whose primary mission is narcotics investigation and enforcement. They also assist in high profile crime events. The task force command is provided by an agent from the California Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement. The probation department provides one deputy probation officer to the task force. Other participants include three deputies from the Placer County Sheriff's Office, and one officer each from the Roseville and Rocklin Police Departments. Other law enforcement agencies within Placer County may provide officers, as time and need requires. The District Attorney supplies support staff for the unit.

Adult Court Services

The Adult Court Services division has one primary function. Officers conduct pre-sentence investigations and write sentencing recommendations to the courts on all felony cases and a smaller number of misdemeanor cases.

Additionally, several officers in this division are assigned to supervise probationers under the Adult Drug Court Program and/or those probationers who are sentenced under the guildlines of Proposition 36 (1210 PC) drug treatment programs.
