Placer County Redevelopment Successor Agency

Per ABx1-26 (Dissolution Act), all redevelopment agencies in California were dissolved as of February 1, 2012. On June 27, 2012, Assembly Bill 1484 was passed to clarify the Dissolution Act. One provision of this bill was a requirement to establish a "Successor Agency" designated as a separate "public entity", which was passed by Ordinance on August 7, 2012 by the Placer County Board of Supervisors.

The Successor Agency will continue to be responsible for:

  • Making payments and processing approved obligations (as defined in the Recognized Obligations Payment Schedule which can be found on the Oversight Board page).
  • Disposing of Assets.
  • Winding down former Redevelopment Agency activities.
  • Preparing an administrative budget for approval by an Oversight Board.

The Placer County Board of Supervisors also acts in its capacity as the Successor Agency to the Former Redevelopment Agency. To view actions by the Successor Agency go to the Board of Supervisors Agenda/Summary Agenda page.

The Oversight Board of the Successor Agency to the former Placer County Redevelopment Agency (Oversight Board) is generally
intended to supervise the activities of the Successor Agency. The Oversight Board has a fiduciary responsibility to holders of enforceable
obligations, and the County's taxing entities that benefit from distribution of property tax and other former Redevelopment Agency revenues.

The Dissolution Act requires the Oversight Board to direct the Successor Agency to dispose of certain assets and to determine whether
contracts, agreements, or other arrangements between the former Redevelopment Agency and private parties should be terminated or
renegotiated to reduce the Successor Agency's liabilities and to increase net revenues to the tax entities.
