Barbara Besana is the Administrative Services Manager for the Placer County Sheriff's Department. She has been with the Sheriff's Department since April of 1999. As the Administrative Services Manager, she is responsible for the fiscal and budgetary operations of the Placer County Sheriff's Department. Duties include managing the contracts and grants, daily centralized financial operations of the department including payroll and leave management, general accounting and purchasing, overseeing the preparation and monitoring of a gross budget of $77 million annually and other administrative duties. Barbara acts as a liaison on fiscal, budgetary and administrative issues with other County departments and outside agencies.

Barbara has over 30 years experience in the financial field with over 25 years in government finance.She has worked for Placer County as an Administrative Services Officer since January 1988 for the Administrative Services Department prior to becoming a member of the Sheriff's Department command staff. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Redlands. She has conducted training within Placer County for such topics as Budgeting and Coaching and Counseling. She has participated in various task forces and work groups benefiting the County as a whole. Barbara is also an assistant Public Information Officer, responding to non-law enforcement emergencies for the County.

Barbara also belongs to several professional organizations such as the Government Finance Officers Association and California State Sheriff's Association (CSSA). Barbara is on the CSSA’s Financial Manager’s Training committee, putting on annual training for the 58 county Sheriff’s financial staff. She is an involved member of the community being a past president of the local Boy's and Girl's Club, a board member of the Motherlode Foundation, a past board member of the Law Enforcement Chaplaincy, a member of the Auburn Rotary Club, and is camp co-direction at the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp (RYLA). When not spending her time at the Sheriff's Department, she spends time with her family.She enjoys traveling and outdoor activities.

Barbara enjoys the challenges of funding law enforcement operations in a changing environment. She believes in building relationships and building teams within the organization to achieve departmental goals to provide excellent services to the department and the community.
