The Placer County Sheriff’s Department recognizes the importance of establishing close ties with the community we serve. In order to accomplish this task, the Placer County Sheriff’s Department established the Community Services Division. A Sheriff’s Sergeant, 8 Deputies, 3 Community Service Officers and several civilian volunteers under the direction of a Sheriff’s Lieutenant staff the division. The unit is responsible for organizing, establishing, maintaining and promoting coordinated crime prevention and community related events. The unit has within it, the DARE program and School Resource Officer program. |

Community Service Officers are civilian employees responsible for among other things, the recruitment, interviewing, selection and training of volunteers. They also cover all community programs such as Neighborhood Watch, residential/ business security checks, commercial crime prevention, personal safety presentations, neighborhood news letters, environmental impact reports, Senior Safety Program, National Safe Kids, Red Ribbon Week, 911 Educational programs, career days, bicycle rodeos, National Night Out, Sheriff’s Equestrian Camp, office tours, Fingerprinting Community Groups, and Alzheimer’s Aid Society. CSO’s are located in Granite Bay, Loomis and Auburn.
