The Corrections Division administers the Jail system in Placer County. There are several in the system. The main jail is located in Auburn. A minimum security facility is also located Auburn. This facility provides inmate workers to various agencies around the county to assist with work projects. There is also a jail facility at the Lake Tahoe Station. This facility provides temporary housing for prisoners awaiting arraignment in the Tahoe Superior Court and for recent arrestees. All long term housing for sentenced prisoners takes place in the main jail or minimum security facility. The Corrections Division is staffed by approximately 100 Correctional Officers, Deputies and Sergeants and assorted clerical staff. There are also Deputies and Supervisors assigned to Court Security and Civil Processes. Placer County's inmate population averages around 900 persons at any given time.
