Q: Do Virtual Checks meet the letter of the law?
A: Yes, click here to read more about the actual laws , such as the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act.
Q: What is a Virtual Check?
A: It is an electronic data exchange that results in the producing of a paper check in the Tax Collector's Office. You must have a U.S. based checking account to use VirtualCheck. Using special software and the information you provide, you electronically authorize us to produce a legal check for this transaction only. Our software prints this check that we deposit into our account just as we would one you mailed us. The difference is time and effort. You don't need to buy a stamp, find an envelope, or take the mail to the post office. Instead of waiting days for the mail, we can process your payment in moments. You will then receive the check we produced, along with your other cancelled checks, in your normal bank statement.
Q: Who receives my financial data?
A: Only the Tax Collector, or her deputized Tax Agents have access to your data.

Do V-checks meet the letter of the law?
Yes, they do! Check demand drafts, or "drafting" funds from a second party's checking account, have been a method of payment for more than 8 years, usually in collections. Check drafting is a legal method of payment as provided in the Uniform Commercial Code, Federal Trade Commission Title 16, and Code of Federal Regulations. Of course, authorization from the checking account holder to generate a check draft is mandatory, and verbal or written agreement is accepted.
