Cook Riolo Bridge Replacement Project
The Cook Riolo Bridge Replacement Project is located on Cook Riolo Road at Dry Creek, approximately 1 mile south of Baseline Road in south western Placer County. The project includes replacing the existing 195’ long by 19.5’ wide structurally deficient bridge with a 350’ long by 52’ wide bridge that meets current standards for scour and flood protection and improves safety. The bridge will have 2-12’ traffic lanes with 8’ shoulders and a 10’ pedestrian/bicycle path that will be separated by a concrete barrier. The total project length is approximately 1200’ from Glaser lane to approximately 600’ past Dry Creek.
Due to environmental concerns, the project will be constructed over two construction seasons with two phases. The first phase will include constructing the western portion of the new structure while traffic remains on the existing bridge. The second phase will include moving traffic to the new western portion of the bridge while the existing bridge is removed and the second half of the new bridge is constructed. The project is funded 88.53% by the Federal Highway Bridge Program (HBP) and 11.47% by local funds. Construction is estimated to begin in early summer 2012.
