Kings Beach Roadway Alternatives
Residents and business owners in the Kings Beach community have attended numerous community meetings to collaborate with county staff to create these proposed roadway alternatives. All of the following are being reviewed as part of the Environmental Impact Report:
Alternative 1 - One traffic lane in each direction, a center turn lane, one bike lane/parallel parking lane in each direction, sidewalks on each side, and roundabouts at Coon St., Bear St., and Hwy. 267. Prohibits parallel parking between July 4 and Labor Day on either side of Hwy. 28. An option to this alternative is to maintain the traffic signal at the intersection at Hwy. 267 and Hwy. 28 instead of a roundabout.
Alternative 2 - Two traffic lanes in each direction, one bike lane/parallel parking lane in each direction, sidewalks on each side, traffic signals at Coon St., Bear St., and Hwy. 267, and left-turn lanes at intersections with signals.
Alternative 3 - Same as Alternative 1 above except that NO street parking is provided along either side of Hwy. 28 in the project corridor.
Alternative 4 - Two traffic lanes westbound, one traffic lane eastbound, a two-way left turn lane, one bike lane/parallel parking lane on the westbound side (north side), one bike lane eastbound, sidewalks on each side, and roundabouts at Coon St., Bear St., and Hwy. 267. An option to this alternative is to maintain the traffic signal at the intersection at Hwy. 267 and Hwy. 28 instead of a roundabout. |
