Kings Beach Watershed Improvement Project

The Purpose of the Kings Beach Water Quality and Stream Environmental Zone (SEZ) Improvement Project is to; (1) reduce fine sediment and nutrients in storm water reaching Lake Tahoe throughout the entire Kings Beach urban area, (2) decrease stream velocities and channel erosion in the Griff Creek and Coon Street stream environment zones, and (3) improve fish passage and habitat in Griff Creek.

The project was reviewed for environmental impact by the Placer County Environmental Review Committee and was determined to have no significant effect upon the environment. Placer County released the project Draft Environmental Compliance Document for public comment on August 8, 2008. The original deadline for comments was September 22, 2008.  In the process of review an error on the plans, (Figure-5A,5F) and Appendix C (sheet CC-1, CC-5, G-1, O-4, and O-5) has been discovered and corrected.  Although this error has no effect on the project environmental impacts, the County is extending the public review period to October 14, 2008 to enable interested parties to review the updated figures.  The updated draft document is available for review online below under the heading “Draft Environmental Compliance Document”. The document is also available for public review at the Kings Beach, CA public library. Sorry for the inconvenience.
