Animal Services & Fees

Animal Services provides a number of services to assist Placer County Residents and their animals.

Shelter Operations include:

• House and care for stray and unwanted animals
• Place adoptable animals in new loving homes
• Assists individuals with lost or found animals
• Coordinates foster home and volunteer programs
• Dog licensing

Field Services Include: (Fees are indicated below) 

• Responds to loose, injured or dead animals on public and county roads
• Animal abuse and neglect investigations
• Emergency assistance to law enforcement agencies
• County-wide rabies control
• Humane animal education
• Reports of barking dogs
• Stray animals running at large
• Enforce state law and county ordinances regulating animal care and welfare
• Inspects commercial kennels
• Investigate animal bites and rabies exposure
