Public Health Nursing
We work to meet the preventive health needs of low-income, uninsured families and individuals, and promote positive health behavior. We also try to relieve environmental or social conditions which can harm the health and safety of individuals and the community.
Specific services include:
- Acute communicable disease control, including administering flu & travel vaccines and treating Sexually Transmitted Diseases such as HIV;
- Maternal and child health (including infant wellness exams;
- Women, Infant and Children (WIC) nutrition services; and child immunizations);
- Tobacco prevention education;
- Family planning;
- Adult health;
- Occupational health, including County employment physical exams
