Placer County Vital Statistics Office, under the supervision and direction of the County Health Officer, is mandated by California law to register all births, deaths, fetal deaths that occur in Placer County, and to issue burial permits for the interment or movement of human remains. We are also mandated to provide information about these events to local, state and federal health agencies to reduce fraud and help promote the health of our citizens, and to local and state planners to facilitate meaningful and efficient use of funds.
The Placer County Vital Statistics Office provides copies of birth and death records for the current and previous year only. The Placer County Clerk Recorders Office can provide copies of prior year certificates. |

| Because of the increase in cases of identity theft, there are two kinds of records that can be issued. |
An Authorized Certified Copy can be used to provide identity, and is only given to someone authorized to receive it.
