Environmental Health Services
The Environmental Health Division protects the health of Northern California's Placer County
residents and visitors in several ways. Among its many responsibilities, the Division:

Inspects all county restaurants and reviews staff certification in safe food handling
practices

Inspects Public Pool and Spa Facilities to ensure they meet state safety requirements

Inspects small water systems to ensure potable water supplies
-
Participates in development projects' Environmental Review to ensure
the protection of the environment, with regard to health issues.

Inspects and monitors private water well and septic system installation to ensure
the protection of Placer County's groundwater.

Monitors the use, storage and disposal of hazardous materials
-
Inspects underground storage tank construction requirements and address possible
leakage issues.

Coordinates contaminated site clean up issues with state oversight agencies.

Permits, monitors, and inspects Solid Waste Facilities.

Monitors and inspects Waste Tire Facilities, in support of State of Califorina waste tire
requirements.

Investigates substandard housing complaints relative to environmental health issues.

Responds to and investigates complaints submitted by the public.

Our Mission is to provide quality service to Placer County residents as we meet these responsibilities.
We have two offices in which to serve the county. The locations are in Auburn, California and Tahoe City, California.
Auburn Office
We are located in Auburn, California. Auburn is 35 miles Northeast of Sacramento, along Interstate 80. (Eastbound Interstate 80, from Sacramento)
