Virginia Graeme Baker Act
In December 2007, the United States Government signed into law The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Safety Act (VGBA). The Effective implementation date was December 19, 2008. The Federal Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) was designated as the agnency in which to enforce the legislation. The Act, requires that covers and grates meet the new standards.
Placer County Environmental Health (PCEH) has the responsibility for the oversight and regulation of public swimming pools and spas in Placer County. Pools and spas that require any work to be done in order to comply with the new Law, are required to submit plans to PCEH.

In addition to the Original Information Letter above, a
"Pool and Spa Upgrade Requirements" letter was sent to Public Pool and Spa facilities where there is still compliance to be obtained.
