Public Water Systems

Placer County is a jurisdiction that contains urban, suburban, and rural areas.  The urban and suburban areas are served by public water agencies such as Placer County Water Agency(PCWA), Nevada Irrigation District (NID), San Juan Water District, Midway Heights Water, Foresthill Public Utilities District, City of Roseville, and City of Lincoln.  These water agencies provide fresh drinking water for a majority of the concentrated population areas, within Placer County.

Where the these water agencies juisdictions and service areas end, Smaller Public Water Systems and individual supplies begin.  All Public Water Systems including the ones within Placer County are defined in California Health and Safety Code, section 116275 (h).

Placer County Environmental Health has entered into an agreement with the California State Department of Health Services, to act as the local primacy agency for the regulation of Small Public Water Systems.  A "Small" Public Water System is defined as one that has less than 200 service connections.

We have a list of our active regulated water systems under our jurisdiction available.
