Mobile Foods
The Placer County Environmental Health Consumer Protection Team inspects Mobile Food Vehicles. Once a Mobile Food Vehicle passes an annual inspection, they are granted an annual operating permit. The annual operating permit shall be displayed on the rear or other prominent location of the vehicle, in the form of a brightly colored sticker that is issued by this office.
When you are ready for an inspection, please give us a call to schedule your inspection. (530) 745-2300
When you show up for your inspection, please ensure that your vehicle is in complete operating condition:
- Hot Water must be at least 120 F degrees
- Hot Holding Units must be greater than or equal to 135 F degrees
- Refrigerators less than/equal to 41 F degrees
- Hand wash supplies available and accessible
If you would like to see more information, please refer to The California Retail Food Code, on our General Information page.
In addtion to equipment requirements, completed application form and fee, the operators must also provide two key documents. The applicant must bring a copy of Food Safety Certification, and a Commissary Form that is signed by the Commissary Operator. The commissary form states that you will be storing food for your vehicle at an approved, permitted facility. Food stored in a private residence is not allowed.
All vehicles on inventory will be billed in November/December for the following year, and it is the responsibility of the operator to call and arrange for an inspection, at which point the new permit is issued. An inspection must be passed in order to obtain a new operators permit.
