Land Use and Water Resources

Land Use and Water Resources Team staff reviews development projects to encourage the integration of public health requirements and goals with land use planning and design decisions .

State law, State regulation, the Placer County General Plan, the various County Community Plans, and city plans designate public health evaluation of development projects in the areas of sewage disposal, water supply, water quality, vectors, hazardous materials, noise, environmental health hazards, and solid waste. We assist in the evaluation of County development projects and planning documents for the following:

Our Land Use Planning Specialists also make decisions and recommendations based off of information, requirements, and guidelines in such as The General Plan, Various Community Plans, and The Placer County Code.

TECHNICAL RESOURCES

Placer County Online GIS - Find information on a Parcel or Address. Layers include Parcels, Census Tracts and Blocks, School Districts, Community Plan, General Plan, and Aerial Photos, to name just a few.

DTSC's Site Mitigation and Brownfields Reuse Program Envirostor Database - The State of California's Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) site. A resource to find Cleanup Sites by City, Zip Code, or County. Types of Cleanup sites include Federal Superfund Sites, State Response Sites, Voluntary Cleanup Sites, and School Cleanup Sites.

California Home Town Locator - Great web resource to find mapping tools and data lookup of information.

Abandoned Mine Lands Preliminary Assessment Handboodk , DTSC 1998 (.pdf document) - Provides basic information in conducting an initial investigation of Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) sites. Examines the presence of physical or chemical hazards that could be present on the AML site.

Auburn Bowman Community Plan, Noise Element 1994 - (.pdf document) The Official Statement of Placer County that set the goals, policies, standards, and implementation measures that guide physical and economic development of the Auburn and Bowman areas.

The goal is to ensure an environment that is free of unnecessary, offensive, or excessive sound and vibration that may jeopardize health, welfare, safety, or quality of life.
