/upload/ceo/ceo   administration/images/miller[1].jpg The County Executive Officer, the CEO, is appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Aside from the County Counsel, also appointed by the Board, the CEO selects all county department heads not elected by county residents, and supervises the operations of their departments.

The CEO and his staff advise the Board on county fiscal, operations and staffing matters. They also assure Board of Supervisors policies and directives are carried out, and they prepare the proposed annual county budget for Board review and approval


Mission of the Placer County Executive Office

Support and implement Board policies and priorities, provide organizational direction and leadership, coordinate strategic and regional planning efforts, and foster efficient and effective management of county workforce and activities.


The County Executive Office addresses its core functions through several divisions:

  • Office of Emergency Services , responsible for coordinating emergency response throughout the county
  • Office of Economic Development , which takes a proactive role in bringing and retaining jobs in Placer County
  • County Redevelopment Agency , which assists community members, private individuals and organizations, and public agencies to rebuild older communities which meet state and federal redevelopment standards.
  • Risk Management, which is responsible for the following programs: Insurance Purchasing, General Liability, Workers Compensation, Safety, Internal Investigations, Disability Management and Organizational Development.
    • Organizational Development, which trains county staff in a number of federally- and state-mandated areas, as well as in areas of good business and personnel management.
  • Staff who manage internal auditing, employee development and public information are also part of the County Executive staff.
