Homeland Security Planning and Preparation

Homeland Security Activities

Information on:
Bioterrorism || Radiological (Nuclear) Terrorism || Chemical Terrorism || Terrorism

Placer County has taken steps to prepare for a possible terrorist event. County emergency services, health care, and law enforcement professionals have met and planned county-wide response activities. They have expanded normal emergency preparedness activities to include training and preparation for possible terrorist events, including biological, chemical, and radiological events. In addition, they are planning and coordinating possible regional response activities with their colleagues in neighboring counties, and at the state and federal level. These activities will continue, and will also enhance Placer County's ability to respond to other sorts of emergencies, like hazardous-materials incidents or floods.

What You Can Do

One of the important elements of any emergency preparedness plan is the average citizen's level of preparedness. To help you prepare, Placer County has posted a large amount of emergency preparedness and background information on the Web site. This information provides background and specific guidance to prepare for a possible emergency, whether it's a natural disaster or a man-made emergency. Take these preparation steps now, to reduce the risk of harm or inconvenience to yourself and your loved ones during an emergency or a disaster.

If you have further questions about emergency preparedness and what you can do, please call the Office of Emergency Services, at 530-889-5300.
