Tahoe Planning

The Planning Services Division and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency work together to process permits in the Tahoe Basin based on the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two agencies. Overseeing the Tahoe Planning operations is Paul Thompson, Assistant Director. The office is located at 775 North Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, CA 96145 (530-581-6200).

Please note:

  • Planners are unavailable at the public counter on Tuesdays.
  • The public counter is closed from 8:00 am to 9:00 am every Wednesday.
  • The office does not accept applications, fees, or issue permits after 4:30 pm.

The Placer County Zoning Ordinance applies to all land uses and development within the unincorporated areas of Placer County.

Resolution 2014-214 adopted October 21, 2014 dissolving the North Tahoe and Tahoe City Design Review Committees and forming a combined Tahoe Basin Design Review Committee.
