The Placer County Senior Peer Counseling service at 530-889-7240 is free and confidential , and provides counseling help to seniors who live in the county. If you are having a problem and would like to talk it over with a fellow senior volunteer counselor, call the service. Or perhaps you know a senior who might benefit from using this service.
As we age, life transitions can sometimes be painful - the loss of a life-long companion, medical illness or physical disability, retirement, or relocation can be upsetting. Sometimes it is helpful to talk with someone near your age - a peer - who can help you address these transitional concerns in a safe, confidential environment.
Our senior peer counselors are mature men and women like you. Your counselor will meet with you privately, listen to your problems and help you resolve them. Counselors are volunteers who have been selected for their warmth and openness. They are trained to be skilled listeners and helpers. Together, the two of you may discuss your fears and anxieties and consider alternatives and possible solutions. The counselors receive ongoing supervision and education from licensed professionals.
