Generosity of individuals and businesses enabled Placer Hills Education Foundation to reach its funding campaign goal of $100,000 to help ensure educational excellence in the Placer Hills Union School District.

The foundation's premiere charity event, "A Great Education Is Magical!," on May 6 at The Ridge was a huge success, exceeding expectations and raising more than $27,000. The dinner and auction sponsored by Placer Savings Bank, Oshetski Orthodontics and The Ridge provided the foundation an opportunity to recognize the contributions of parents, community members and businesses. Major financial contributors recognized at the event included 25 individual donors; business sponsors Winchester Country Club, Granite Bank, American Caulking Inc., Harris Painting and Decorating; and more than 100 businesses who donated auction items.

Saturday night was a magical evening for all, thanks to the efforts of event committee members Grace Blackburn, Becky Buol, Megan Buell, Linda Cramer, Mindy Danovaro, Debbie Jones, Kirsten Lemma, Sheryse Lewis, Jennifer Lynn, Gena McArdle, Sue Nelson, Tanya Newburn, Darci Pierce, Mary Parker, Jeanne Schwenke and Laura Vogel. Special thanks to our Board of Directors Glen Ikeda, Cheryl Beninga, Bob Detwiler, Jack Krier, Sheriff Ed Bonner, Ted Irons, Supervisor Bruce Kranz, Jim Logan, Frank Myers, Jeanne Schwenke, Ken Sherer and Chuck Wolfe for their dedication to the foundation and passion for education.

The foundation seeks to provide resources for essential programs that are an integral part of a successful educational curriculum including science, technology, fine arts, music, library and physical education. In today's competitive world, education opens the door to opportunity. If children are given the proper tools, they can help build an amazing future for all of us.
