Three Kings Beach parking items on Monday's county board agenda

July 22, 2007

The Placer County Board of Supervisors will review three parking-related items Monday that are part of the county Redevelopment Agency's drive to provide more public parking in Kings Beach.

At Monday's meeting, the board will be asked to:

• Approve a $600,000 loan agreement with the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank that will allow the county to start construction this summer on a 21-space Minnow Avenue parking lot;

• Authorize the agency to acquire property on Rainbow Avenue near Deer Street so a 32-space public parking lot can be built there; and

• Authorize the agency to begin formal negotiations with a developer interested in acquiring a 0.29-acre county-owned property on Salmon Avenue.

B.B. LLC, the developer, is interested in combining the county-owned site with approximately three acres it already owns north of Highway 28 between Coon and Fox streets and building a mixed-use project that would include retail space, offices, for-sale housing, workforce housing, open-space pedestrian plazas and a multi-level parking garage.

"The Redevelopment Agency is doing a great job finding innovative, cost-effective ways to provide more public parking in the Kings Beach commercial district," said board Chairman Bruce Kranz, the supervisor who represents North Lake Tahoe.

Monday's meeting will be held at 2 p.m. in the Lodge Pole Room at the North Tahoe Conference Center, 8318 North Lake Blvd., in Kings Beach.
