Foresthill Road Update
Updated 4/21/06
• Excess water, saturated soil and two resulting slides have damaged Foresthill Road east of Drivers Flat Road. Significant cracking and road slippage continues to compromise the pavement in both slide areas.
• Placer County intends to keep Foresthill Road open during all phases of repair work, which may take months to complete and cannot begin until conditions dry out.
• The Placer County Public Works Department has built a temporary lane on the westbound side of the roadway. Westbound traffic has been rerouted onto the new lane; eastbound traffic has also been rerouted. These changes will allow a lane in each direction to remain open while the slide areas are repaired.
• The speed limit through this section has been reduced to 25 MPH. Enforcement of the newly posted 25 MPH speed limit has been increased. Motorists are urged to use extra caution when driving on this damaged section of Foresthill Road, due to the lane rerouting and the presence of repair crews. Lane restrictions will likely remain in effect until permanent repairs are completed.
• Foresthill residents are asked to make sure they have adequate emergency supplies in stock. With fire season just around the corner, this is a good time to review individual and family preparedness.
