Countyplans to make major improvements to
Leroy E. Botts Memorial Parkin Foresthill this fall.
On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve spending approximately $400,000 on renovating the park. Board members also authorized staff to go out to bid on the project and approved plans and specifications for the park improvements.
The park is located on an 18-acre site at 24601 Harrison Roadin the heart of Foresthill. The park shares the site with two other county facilities: the ForesthillVeteransMemorialCenterand ForestHillDivideMuseum.
The county plans to install new restrooms at the Little League field, replace a tot-lot playground and make various other upgrades to the park’s baseball and softball fields.
“All of these improvements are much needed, and I appreciate the Parks Commission recommending them for approval,” said Supervisor Bruce Kranz, the board member who represents Foresthill.
The board concurred with the Parks Commission’s recommendation to set aside $396,775 for the park-improvement project from park-dedication fees paid by new developments in the Foresthill area.
The Foresthill Little League and Foresthill Four-Wheelers have volunteered to construct high-quality horseshoe pits, improve access pathways and rehabilitate a storage building in the park. The county will provide materials for the volunteer projects.
Leroy E. Botts was the first Foresthill resident killed in World War II.
