Road Construction Projects Taking Place Throughout County
The Placer County Department of Public Works has numerous road construction projects scheduled for the next few months. The projects are part of the Department’s continual mission to repair and maintain 1,000 miles of roadways, 125 bridges and 200 miles of guardrail throughout the County.
The projects include:
Lozanos
Road
Bridge
Replacement:
This project on Lozanos Roadnear Chili Hill Roadin Ophir will replace an existing, deteriorating bridge with a new, wider bridge over Auburn Ravine. The new bridge will be built upstream of the existing bridge to improve approaches. The bridge will also allow wider lanes, paved shoulders and a pedestrian walkway. Construction will start July 5; the road is expected to remain open with traffic controls throughout the project, scheduled to end on November 8.
- Gladding RoadBridgeat Coon Creek Replacement:
Work on the project in Lincolnbegan mid-June and is expected to be completed in October. Work is progressing on schedule. Gladding Road at Coon Creek is closed during construction; there is a detour: Fleming Roadto McCourtney Roadto Riosa Road.
Signal Installation at Fuller Driveand AuburnFolsom Road:
Construction on this project in GraniteBaybegan June 19 and may be completed by the end of the month. Work will be performed under traffic control with at least one lane open at all times.

Foresthill Road
Slide Repair:
Repairs to damaged roadway east of Drivers Flat are expected to go out to bid at the end of July. Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall.

Creek
Bridge
at Squaw Valley Road:
The existing bridge deck on Squaw Valley Roadnear Lake Tahoewill be replaced, with construction beginning in July and completion expected in October.
Squaw Valley Road
overlay:
An asphalt concrete overlay will be placed on Squaw Valley Roadfrom Winding Creek Road westto the Snow Peak Roadbridge. Work on this Lake Tahoearea project will occur in August and September.

Tahoe Pines Erosion Control Project:
Roads on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and west of State Route 89 will be retrofitted with erosion control measures, including curbs and gutters, drainage channels, infiltration devices and shoulder revegetation. Affected roads are St. Michael Court, ElizabethDrive, Ann Roadand Leota Way. Construction is expected to begin in August and will require two construction seasons to complete.
